THE UNFORTUNATE POWER OF RETARDS
The Art in question - Personally, what I find most offensive is their blandness.
There's no stopping the mentally challenged, not to mention totally unqualified, shoving their personal beliefs down the throats of others, this week. And hey there's a reason why a cretain (typo, but I'm keeping it) kind of people get into any kind of politics, it's the perfect medium in which to suspend their small minds and have their ignorance infuse the general populace.
OK, I am highly annoyed about the whole Prop 8 thing, but as I am about to outline this is only marginally less stupid and frustrating.
Tea Tree Gully Council in South Australia, banned 2 artworks from a local competition as "innapropriate" due to nudity. When one of the artists, a mild mannered 66 year old lady, protested verbally (and quite rightly, about their pea-brained opinion) at the time of delivering her entry, they had their security drag her off the premises.

It made the ABC news with an interview of the artists, and the imbecile Lord Mayor of Tea Tree Gully Miriam Smith, who reinforced that children need protection from images of nudity, apparently. When questioned directly about the issue, the reason that was supplied by the council was "It's a council decision to remove innapropriate art."
Here we have the danger of the press exemplified, these backwater "curators", have taken the view of the media, especially the whole Bill Henson drama, skewed deliberately to sell more papers, heighten TV ratings, completely to heart without doing any research - not to mention having absolutely no educations in the Arts which would perhaps rightly inform such a decision. After what I went through with my show earlier this year, I think you all know how I feel about art censorship.
Since when did this arrogant bunch of redneck fuckwads decide for OTHER people, what they will or will not let their children be exposed to? I'm sure that every kid without exception has seen their mummy or daddy buck naked. Big deal, just put up a warning sign in the entrance and let parents make their own decision as is their right (and I am sure they will naturally all dismiss it as totally ridiculous).
As for the verbal complaints they claim to have recieved, for the first time in over 30 years of the annual exhibition, well...I think we all know about that.
I used to have a boss who would endlessly drag me into her office to upbraid me about my hairstyle (OK, it was the eighties!), saying that she'd had "customer complaints". I knew she was fibbing, and it was really her that was bothered, because the problem was we never had ANY customers! The joint closed down soon after and she was back on the dole queue, but that's another story for another time.
Unfortunately, people are so easy to read, and it's a giveaway what this is really all about. Clearly, someone on the Tea Tree Gully council, is very worried about the way their husband looks at their daughter with a glint in his eye. It's so obvious, and I can tell you I'm 99% certain that is what the whole issue really is.
Write a letter to the Tea Tree Gully Council at cttg@cttg.sa.gov.au like I did, and let them know they are Morons (yep I did, and you bet I used that word in the note.) It's time to put a stop to this crap, it's already out of hand as is.

How come so many people are reading this, but nobody ever comments on it, except to occasionally remark how they are going to hunt me down and kill me?
